Where was Hank Voight on tonight’s episode of Chicago P.D.? (April 29, 2026)
Voight was notably absent during the chaos of Chicago P.D.‘s “Going Back,” with viewers eventually learning that Voight was M.I.A. to appear in court out of state.
Meanwhile, Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Fleuger) led a mind-boggling investigation into an incriminating videotape. After catching wind that Ruzek was hospitalized after being attacked during an evidence search gone wrong, Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) contacted HQ to give Eva Imani (Ari Mandi) an update on Ruzek and to learn the latest about the investigation.
“Platt notified Voight,” Imani explained. “He’s still out of state testifying in court.
Between his latest trip out of state to testify on a case and the hectic cases he has helped solve, Voight has had little time to rest this season, but he isn’t slowing down after catching wind of a mystifying mystery.
What’s happened to Hank Voight so far on Chicago P.D. Season 13
After navigating a troubling blackmail scheme orchestrated by his CPD superior earlier this season, Voight’s focus has shifted to his newest Intelligence Unit recruit: Officer Eva Imani. The rookie has slowly opened up to Voight about her multi-decade manhunt for her long-lost sister. Upon learning that Imani finally tracked down a lead on her sister’s potential whereabouts, Voight offered to lend his assistance on the case, an offer Imani tearfully accepted.
In a 2025 interview with NBC Insider, Season 13 newcomer Mandi opened up about Eva’s instant bond with her new boss. “They have a lot of similarities, the two of them. Like, reluctantly, you know, Imani’s not quick to realize it,” Mandi explained. “Everything in her wants to push [Voight] away, because they’re in the same space. And like I said, she’s not used to working with others, but they move in similar ways. And their goal is obviously the same.”
Mandi continued, “They’re very devoted to the people, but they don’t mind cutting corners to get there, to whatever the end goal is. They kind of work in the same way, so they realize that pretty quickly on.”
P.D. showrunner Gwen Sigan echoed the sentiment in an interview with TV Insider, teasing that Voight and Imani’s connection will evolve thanks to their shared “impulses.”
“It really comes to a head between Voight and Amani [this season] because we see that those impulses that they both have, as much as Voight can recognize it in her and knows that he’s the same way, doesn’t mean he’s going to be comfortable with her using those impulses…” Sigan shared. “As much as they are alike, that might not be something that they both appreciate and want.”
