From her early days as a detective to her recent climb up the NYPD ranks, Benson has never failed to go above and beyond for survivors, always doing her best to secure justice by episode’s end.
Aside from SVU, Hargitay is a prolific producer and director, recently applauded for her Emmy-winning 2025 documentary, My Mom Jayne, a deeply personal film about her late mother, Jayne Mansfield. With a 2006 Emmy under her belt and the honor of being the longest-running primetime live-action actress in television history thanks to her dynamite role as Olivia Benson, Hargitay also just hosted of the 2026 Emmy Awards.
Ice T as Sergeant Odafin “Fin” Tutuola
Everyone’s favorite sarcasm-slinging Sergeant is set to return in Season 28 of SVU as Ice T continues to add to his historic run as the longest-running male actor in a primetime series as Sgt. Fin Tutuola. The elite squad has long relied on Tutuola’s impeccable instincts and beloved wit to get through the next case.
In addition to stealing the show on SVU, Ice T is also an award-winning rapper and heavy metal musician as the lead singer of the band Body Count. Aside from his many appearances across the Law & Order franchise, Ice T has also appeared on Rick and Morty and Survival of the Thickest and made several appearances on Saturday Night Live.
Peter Scanavino as A.D.A. Dominick “Sonny” Carisi Jr.
Where would the squad be without their reliable A.D.A. on call whenever the cuffs land on their latest perp? Peter Scanavino is set to do it all again in Season 28 as A.D.A. Sonny Carisi, one of Benson’s nearest and dearest. Watching Carisi grow from a steadfast detective to a dedicated lawyer to a loving father has been the gift that keeps on giving.
Aside from landing convictions on SVU, Scanavino has guest starred in the original Law & Order and Organized Crime, lending a legal hand wherever he is most needed. Scanavino has also guest starred in various series like The Blacklist, The Leftovers, and Unforgettable.
Kelli Giddish as Sergeant Amanda Rollins
Another one of Benson’s most trusted ride-or-dies is none other than Sgt. Amanda Rollins, played by Kelli Giddish. While Rollins might have left the SVU for a minute to teach criminology and lead the NYPD Intelligence Unit, she returned to Benson’s squad room in Season 28 and is happily back at her post. Fans have relished being able to see Rollins assist Benson and the squad on cases as well as see Rollins and Carisi’s family grow in recent seasons.
In addition to guest starring in primetime hits like The Burg, The Good Wife, and Chase, Giddish has also guest starred across the Law & Order franchise.
Kevin Kane as Detective Terry Bruno
Season 28 will also welcome the celebrated return of Kevin Kane as one of the SVU’s most passionate and dedicated members, Detective Terry Bruno. After winning a settlement against his former precinct and maintaining his passion for justice, Benson knew she needed Bruno for her elite team.
Aside from becoming an SVU fan favorite in recent years, Kane is also known for guest starring in series like Inside Amy Schumer, Life & Beth, and Chicago P.D. and big-screen hits like Trainwreck, The Irishman, and Caper.
Aimé Donna Kelly as Captain Renee Curry
The Season 28 cast of SVU also includes the return of Aimé Donna Kelly as Captain Renee Curry. After leaving the IAB to join Benson’s squad to feel her work was put to the best use, Curry has become one of Benson’s most trusted allies. Curry understands the pressures of protocol and NYPD-related challenges, so Benson has appreciated having a fellow Captain in her corner.
In addition to always delivering justice on SVU, Kelly has guest starred in primetime hits like The Blacklist, Chicago Med, For Life, Blue Bloods, The Sinner, and The Greatest.
Corey Cott as Detective Jake Griffin
After joining the squad in Season 27 of SVU, Cott is set to return in Season 28 as the tenacious Detective Jake Griffin. After proving himself to be cut from the same cloth as Benson’s elite crew, he assisted on dozens of gripping investigations and helped secure justice on several occasions.
Aside from his scene-stealing role on SVU, Cott has starred in hit series like Filthy Rich, The Good Fight, and Z: The Beginning of Everything. Cott is also a Wolf Entertainment veteran, previously guest-starring in a 2016 episode of SVU and a 2023 episode of Chicago Med.
